Travel Checklist

The waiting is almost over, the planning been done..Now its vacation time! Are you ready? Check out this list to be sure you don’t forget anything 😉 

 

Three weeks before you leave:
 
•Forward your mail, arrange to have it collected or ask the post office to hold it while you’re away.
•Put a hold on newspaper and magazine deliveries.
•Pay telephone, service provider accounts and bills before you go, so they will not be disconnected while you are away.
•Ensure arrangements for your pets are in place.
 
Two weeks before you leave:
 
•Call your credit card companies to advise dates and places to which you will be traveling.
•If you are taking your mobile phone with you, contact your provider to ensure international roaming is enabled or to find out what options you have.
 
One week before you leave:
 
•Inform neighbours and neighbourhood watch groups of your trip dates.
•If you have a house alarm, ensure a trusted neighbour has the details to or the name of the security company.
•Exchange some currency so you have the local currency on hand when you arrive.
•Give a trusted family member copies of your passport, travel itinerary and accommodations, in case they need to contact you.
•Leave a set of house keys with a trusted relative or friend.
 
One day before you leave:
 
•Remove perishable food items from your fridge.
•Check-in online ( 24 hrs prior) plus select your seats before you travel if possible.
•Pack your hand luggage with everything you need for the flight: travel documents, toothbrush, lip balm, reading material, ear plugs, travel pillow, local currency, any medications and snacks.
 
The day you leave:
 
•Turn off electrical appliances ( Unplug from wall) 
•Leave curtains and shades closed.
•Double check you have all your travel documents in your carry-on luggage: passport, visa, tickets and money.
•Check the lock on windows & doors of your house.
